Manuel’s passion for working with wood began at a young age. What started as furniture making morphed into a creative outlet of unique craftsmanship. In the past five years he has been focusing on lathe work and integrating epoxy resin into the wood. Many of his pieces have their start from discarded old logs or felled trees, while others are reimagined or refurbished from reusable blanks. The process of developing an art piece includes wood selection, drying time, design development, turning, color choices, sanding and finish work. The experience of working with diverse materials has led him to appreciate the unique beauty and texture of the different woods, making each piece one of a kind. Manny and his family love the Pacific Northwest and have called Issaquah Washington home for the past 25 years. He spends most of his time in his one-man studio (garage) perfecting his craft. When he’s not covered in sawdust, he enjoys practicing the saxophone and enjoying gardening.
